I bought this for my 8th graders for middle school. I’m a title 1 low income school and this is more for high school students or highly advanced middle. I may be able to use a page or 2….. not worth it for the price.

I’d rather buy a weeks lesson on teachers pay teachers for this price

This is junk as a coloring book. The extent of the kinds of things to color is pretty much what is on the cover. The chemistry primer isn’t that great either. I thought this may have some value as a teacher, but it really doesn’t at all.

Color me chemistry: A Molecular coloring book for adults. An adult science coloring book that combines a love of science with the relaxing art of coloring. Take a deep breath from the stress of the day and color nicotine, energize while coloring caffeine, or just spend some time creating beautiful, colorful molecules.

Good coloring book with some errors. My 8 year old chemistry lover absolutely loves this book. He’s halfway through the book but has found some errors or typos. The periodic tables they have in the book have elements 116 and 117 names incorrectly.

116 should be Livermorium and 117 should be ununseptium (although now, Dec. 2016, officially renamed to Tennessine) Also, Tetraphosphorus Trisulfide is listed as P5S3 but it’s actually P4S3. The diagram I incorrect as well.

Now, I don’t know anything about chemistry myself. My son pointed these errors out and when I cross check, he seems to be correct. I’m interested to see if he finds more errors as he works through the book.

This book is great! I even bought one for my mom. So much fun to find a purposeful and unique take on the coloring book trend.Read more

As a chemist and someone who has latched onto the whole adult coloring craze, I really enjoyed zenning out to molecules. The contoured ball-and-stick coloring pages left a lot open to interpretation so I could turn my favorite caffeine molecule into my own masterpiece.

My son is studying chemistry, and I bought this thinking we could talk about a compound and then color it. The compounds are not clearly labeled and it can’t be used for that purpose. I still think this product deserves a bad rating, because even evaluating it strictly as a coloring book, it is inadequate.

Instead of one chemical compound to color, think of walpaper. Each page is a field of the same chemical compound repeated over and over, with tiny spots to color, and not that well printed either.

Images are fine but are displayed repetitively on the page with no structural or functional information. This makes it less useful as a learning tool.

Disappointed. Just cut and pasted pictures of the same molecule on each page. No other interesting graphics or pictures of what the molecule does or is used for.

Love this book!!! I bought this as a birthday gift (my cousin loved it), but am buying another one for myself. The illustrations are cool and there is more variation than I expected. I especially like how each page lists the compound you are coloring.

I love this coloring book! It has information that sticks with you, and information you have to color in order that you like it. What color do you want your Periodic Table to be? What color the molecules? Atoms? Electrons? This is really relaxing, and nicely done.

I’ll recommend it to anyone.

Color Me Chemistry: A Molecular Coloring Book For Adults: 80 Pages of Molecules to Color Paperback – September 26, 2016

Carrie Hitchens is a chemist by day and artist by night. Her love of science and art has fueled the idea of a line of adult coloring books for people who just can’t get enough of science.

I love this book. It gives very simple explanations for the concepts and it does not cover a lot, but it was really good for my students to use as an introduction to the content or as a review. I found the section on orbitals really helpful in helping them to learn the orbital shapes and to learn to do the electron configurations.

(Also I have many students who are below grade level, and the coloring is something they can master while still “doing Chemistry”.
