Proud parent moment when we went to an art gallery and my kids knew several of the artists! All thanks to the several artist coloring books we had been using. This workbook features folktales and fables that will give first graders plenty of reading practice.

A coloring book from the Thinking Tree. What I liked about it: The drawings are very simple and basic. It won’t take too long for my son to color them. I also find them sweet and whimsical. The occupations are interesting as stated and my son won’t be coloring another Spiderman picture.

What I don’t like about it: There is note taking. My son became rather upset that he would need to take notes in a coloring book. I told him not to sweat it. They also don’t list what the occupations are.

You can guess them, but it still would be nice for kids to have them listed. This was a huge sticking point with my 10 year old.Who this book may be for: Parents who are tired of Superhero and cartoon character coloring books.

This is something interesting and can fuel family discussions on career paths.Who this book may not be for: Kids who don’t want a coloring book that seems like a workbook and children who don’t like coloring.

Bottom Line: As stated in my other review we always modify the books for our family and make them work. There is also a facebook group that I encourage you to join to learn more about the Thinking Tree products.

This book is great and open ended in the way that it is just an great tool to help you learn your childs interest. Each career has a picture. You can looks up information on that job. I personally use videos as well for my son who is an visual learner.

You can talk about the job and write down what you learned. I am also having my children rate the jobs 1-5. One for the jobs that they will never do # for the jobs that are borderline and 4 and 5 for the job that they love.

Then i plan too pick the top 3 jobs they like and explore more about those jobs with them together and also let them do their own research as well. What I also like about this book is that it has white collar work as well as blue collar work which is an major plus for me.

This book is great to use or supplement any curriculum you already have.
